Conveyor Belt for Mining Industry
The right belt grade for every section of your plant
Mining conveyors carry raw ore, boulders, crushed stone and overburden, often over long distances and up inclines. The belt has to take heavy impact at loading points, resist cutting and wear from sharp rock, and run for long hours without stopping production.
HILFLEX® supplies rugged belts for open-cast and underground mining operations, chosen for the material and the conditions at each conveyor.
Which belt for which job
| Application | Suggested belt |
|---|---|
| Primary crusher feed and discharge | Impact Resistant with breaker ply |
| Crushed ore and stone transport | M-24 |
| Very abrasive ore, quartz, slag | SAR Grade |
| Underground mining and tunnels | FR Grade |
| Steep inclines | Chevron or Sidewall |
What we look at before suggesting a belt
- Lump size and drop height at loading points
- How abrasive the material is
- Conveyor length, lift and tension
- Surface or underground, and any fire safety requirement
Frequently asked questions
What belt is used for underground mining?
Fire resistant (FR) belts are used in underground mines and tunnels because they delay the spread of fire.
M-24 or SAR for iron ore?
M-24 suits most ore handling. For very abrasive material where the cover wears fast, SAR gives longer wear life.
Can you supply wide belts for large mines?
We make belts from 300 mm up to 3200 mm width.
Related belts and industries
Recommended HILFLEX® belts for this industry
Impact Resistant (Breaker Ply)
Breaker ply absorbs shocks at stone crushers, coal crushers, loading zones and transfer points.
M-24 General Purpose Grade
High tensile strength, abrasion resistance and durability for coal, stone, iron ore and cement.
SAR Super Abrasion Resistant
Built for extremely abrasive material like limestone, slag or quartz, for maximum wear life.
FR Fire Resistant Grade
For underground mining, tunnels and thermal power plants. Delays the spread of fire.
Chevron Conveyor Belt
V, W and Y-shaped cleats for steady conveying of bulk and bagged material on inclines.
Sidewall Conveyor Belt
Sidewalls and cleats carry material up steep inclines without spillage, in less space.
