Conveyor Belt for Coal Handling
The right belt grade for every section of your plant
A coal handling plant (CHP) is hard on belts in two ways. Coal lumps hit the belt at tipplers and crushers, and coal dust brings a constant fire risk. The belt has to take impact and wear, and in many sections it also has to resist fire.
HILFLEX® supplies flame resistant and impact resistant belts for conveyors feeding crushers, stockpiles, hoppers and bunkers in power plants, steel plants, cement plants and coal washeries.
Belts for each part of a CHP
| Section | What happens there | Suggested belt |
|---|---|---|
| Wagon or truck tippler, track hopper | Heavy lumps dropping from height | Impact Resistant belt |
| Crusher house | Impact and abrasion | Impact Resistant or M-24 |
| Stacker-reclaimer and yard | Long runs, weather, abrasion | M-24 |
| Bunker and boiler feed, enclosed galleries | Fire risk from coal dust | FR Grade |
Why coal plants choose HILFLEX
- FR grade belts that delay fire spread for added safety
- Breaker ply belts from our Jalandhar unit for tippler and crusher zones
- Made to IS 1891 and DIN 22102
- Test reports available on request for audits
Frequently asked questions
Do all coal conveyors need FR belts?
Not always, but enclosed galleries, bunkers and boiler feed lines usually do. Check your plant safety norms and share them with us.
Which belt lasts longer under a tippler?
A belt with a breaker ply and a thick top cover is better at handling the drop of heavy lumps.
Can you visit our CHP?
Our engineer can visit your plant to guide belt selection if required.
Related belts and industries
Recommended HILFLEX® belts for this industry
Impact Resistant (Breaker Ply)
Breaker ply absorbs shocks at stone crushers, coal crushers, loading zones and transfer points.
M-24 General Purpose Grade
High tensile strength, abrasion resistance and durability for coal, stone, iron ore and cement.
FR Fire Resistant Grade
For underground mining, tunnels and thermal power plants. Delays the spread of fire.
