Conveyor Belt for Foundry & Smelting Industry

The right belt grade for every section of your plant

Foundries and smelters are some of the hardest places for a conveyor belt. Casting sand is abrasive and often warm, scrap has sharp edges, and furnace discharge and slag can be very hot. An ordinary belt hardens, cracks and gets cut quickly.

HILFLEX® supplies heat and abrasion resistant belts for hot metal scrap, slag, casting sand and furnace discharge.

Tips for longer belt life in a foundry

  • Measure the material temperature where it lands on the belt, not in the furnace
  • Keep hot material spread evenly rather than in one heap
  • Choose a thicker top cover on hot and sharp material lines

Frequently asked questions

SHR or UHR for foundry sand?

SHR suits hot foundry sand in most plants. UHR is for hotter material, up to 300°C.

Can the belt take sharp scrap?

For sharp scrap, choose SAR or a breaker ply belt with a thicker top cover.

Do you supply foundry clusters across India?

Yes, we supply across India.

Related belts and industries

Recommended HILFLEX® belts for this industry

SHR Heat Resistant Grade

For hot clinker, foundry sand and sintered ores, with heat-resistant compounds for longer life.

M-24 General Purpose Grade

High tensile strength, abrasion resistance and durability for coal, stone, iron ore and cement.

UHR Ultra Heat Resistant Grade

For steel plants and foundries, resists cracking and hardening at temperatures up to 300°C.

SAR Super Abrasion Resistant

Built for extremely abrasive material like limestone, slag or quartz, for maximum wear life.

Impact Resistant (Breaker Ply)

Breaker ply absorbs shocks at stone crushers, coal crushers, loading zones and transfer points.
