Conveyor Belt for Sponge Iron & Steel Plants
The right belt grade for every section of your plant
Steel and sponge iron plants move iron ore, pellets, coal, coke, sinter and slag. Some of it is sharp and abrasive, some of it is hot, and much of it lands on the belt with heavy impact. A single belt grade rarely suits all of it.
HILFLEX® supplies high strength belts built for heat, abrasion and heavy impact zones in steel plants, DRI (sponge iron) units and pellet plants.
Which belt for which material
| Material | Condition | Suggested belt |
|---|---|---|
| Iron ore, pellets, coal | Abrasive, normal temperature | M-24 |
| Slag, quartz, very sharp ore | Very abrasive | SAR Grade |
| Sinter, hot DRI, kiln discharge | Hot material | SHR or UHR (up to 300°C) |
| Loading and crusher points | Heavy impact | Impact Resistant |
Common belt problems in steel plants
- Covers hardening and cracking on hot sinter or DRI lines
- Deep cuts from sharp slag and scrap
- Fast top cover wear on ore and pellet conveyors
Frequently asked questions
Which belt is used for hot sinter?
Heat resistant grades. UHR grade is compounded to resist cracking and hardening at temperatures up to 300°C.
Do you supply sponge iron plants in Chhattisgarh and Odisha?
Yes. Our Indore plant supplies Chhattisgarh, Odisha and other states.
Can you suggest grades for each conveyor?
Yes. Share your conveyor list with material and temperature, and we will suggest a grade for each.
